LAB-NET project ends with successful results: a mapping of Guinean laboratories and a post-Ebola action plan
On January 31, 2019, the final LAB-NET steering committee was held, followed by the project’s closing ceremony, under the high authority of the Guinean Ministry of Health. Funded by the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs, LAB-NET was coordinated by Expertise France and run by the Mérieux Foundation and Institut Pasteur. The project’s participants gathered to review the 45 months of intervention, launched in 2015 as part of the post-Ebola reconstruction of the Guinean health system.

Between December 2018 and January 2019, the Mérieux Foundation and the Center for International Cooperation in Health and Development (CCISD) held restitution workshops on the activities they performed to strengthen the capacities of 47 health districts in Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Liberia, Sierra Leone and Togo.

BSL-3 containment laboratory at the Charles Mérieux Center for Infectious Disease of Mali featured in the journal New Microbes and New Infections
An article written by teams from the Charles Mérieux Center for Infectious Disease of Mali and the Mérieux Foundation has been published online October 9th in New Microbes and New Infections. “Installing BSL-3 containment laboratories in low- and middle-income countries: challenges and prospects from Mali’s experience” highlights the complex process and challenges faced in establishing and running a biosafety level 3 containment laboratory (BSL3) in low- and middle-income settings.
