On October 4th, the Global Task Force on Cholera Control (GTFCC) launched "Ending Cholera, A Global Roadmap to 2030," an ambitious new strategy to reduce deaths from cholera by 90% by 2030. Every year, cholera affects 2.9 million people and kills an estimated 95,000. Urgent action is needed to protect communities, prevent transmission and control outbreaks.

The Mérieux Foundation has been inducted as a Global Virus Network (GVN) Center for Excellence. Dr. Robert Gallo, Co-Founder and Scientific Director of the GVN, and Dr. Benoît Miribel, Director General of the Mérieux Foundation, announced the Mérieux Foundation as the newest GVN Center of Excellence. Dr. Miribel will serve as Director of the Mérieux Foundation’s GVN Center of Excellence.
